Originally from the Netherlands, Matthijs holds an LL.M. in EU Law and Market Integration from Maastricht University, giving him a strong grounding in international institutions and governance. He brought that foundation to the House of Commons, where he put that institutional knowledge to work as a legislative assistant, prior to honing his political communications skills as a Communications and Outreach Manager for another MP.

That political and communications background, spanning both Canada and the Netherlands, now shapes how Matthijs works with nonprofit clients, helping them build campaigns grounded in clear strategy and real data.
