Phil offers three non-profit consulting services. Depending on your organization’s readiness and maturity level, clients may call upon Phil to help with any of the following.

Strategic Planning

Phil can help by performing a strategic operational overview of your organization and by conducting feasibility studies to help understand the larger community’s perception of your current situation and potential. Once that is done, we can assist you in the development of the deficient resources that will be needed in order to achieve your long-term goals.


Phil will teach you how to integrate the principles of fundraising into your organization. Whether it is through capital campaigns, major gifts, annual strategies, or special events, we will work with your key players to determine which fundraising strategies will work best for your organization. We will also help you break down complicated and overwhelming fundraising theories and buzzwords and draft a realistic action plan that will provide the framework to help you attain your goals and achieve results for years to come.


By working closely with an organization’s board and staff, Phil is able to help non-profits understand themselves better. We look at the role you play in the larger community, help you develop your mission and vision, take stock of your strengths and resources, and provide you with a direction for the future. Why was your organization founded in the first place? Are you doing now what you initially set out to do? How does the larger community see your effort? If you ceased to exist tomorrow, who would suffer? Working with you to develop the appropriate governance model for your organization, Phil helps you answer the questions we sometimes don’t think to ask: Who are we? Where are we going? And what do we need to get there?

The Client-Consultant Relationship

Consulting is an ongoing relationship in which we are building something together, therefore Phil will be with you every step of the way. Some organizations might find that they will need extensive on-site consulting. Others might only need Phil’s coaching services, a more hands-off approach in which we offer periodic guidance to an organization’s active initiatives and projects. Others may even only require our mentorship services, where we serve as a sounding board to bounce off ideas or provide perspectives to a particular challenge. Clients can engage with Phil on any of these levels. It all depends on your needs.

Prospective clients must demonstrate, however, a readiness to embrace change in order to benefit fully from a consulting partnership with Phil. We have had tremendous success with our clients, but there has to be a sense of openness and teamwork for that to happen. Clients must be prepared to invest their time and resources in order to achieve their goals.
