The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies National Conference

April 11-14 2014

You may not be able to change someone’s mind, but if you can create a change of heart, you’ll be able to make a difference.” – Dr. Jane Goodall

Phil was honoured to sponsor a special breakfast prior to the humane conference’s keynote: Hope for Animals with Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE and UN Messenger of Peace.

A few highlights from her talk:

  • Compassion and aggression are both innate to humans. It’s up to each of us to choose which one we will embrace.
  • When asked how Dr. Jane overcomes a feeling of helplessness when faced with such big challenges in her work, “I roll up my sleeves and get to work.”
  • After showing her amazing video of releasing a chimpanzee back into the wild, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

To which she said:

“With no tears in the eyes, there can be no rainbow in the heart. “

Thank you Dr.Jane for your compassion, leadership and grace. It was an honour to meet you!

She even signed one of our brochures, with an inspiring message that will remind us daily what we work for.

Our team put this presentation together for the 2014 CFHS National Animal Welfare Conference to show how much animals mean to us. We salute all the men and women who drive positive, progressive change to end animal cruelty, improve animal protection and promote the humane treatment of all animals.
