Storytelling Workshop Series

Phil is excited to offer a special workshop series for not-for-profit organizations, foundations, NGOs and charities. If you’re doing good in this world, we want to help you do it even better!

In this three part series, you’ll learn:

  • what story catches media attention
  • how to craft your own “sticky” story
  • how to create videos yourself using a mobile phone
  • how to leverage social media to get your story out to the masses

You may choose to attend one, two or all three sessions. They are designed to build on one another, but you are free to attend whichever one you like! For best results, we recommend you attend the workshops in the order they are offered:

Part 1 ] What’s Your Story: Narrative Workshop with Debbie Hynes

Part 2 ] Storytelling through DIY video with Approprimage

Part 3 ] Getting your story out there: harness the power of social media with Phil

All workshops are bilingual.

Part 1 ] What’s Your Story? Narrative Workshop with Debbie Hynes

This workshop is targeted at individuals who want to pitch the media and who want to increase their storytelling skills. We will discuss what makes a good story, how to determine your target audience and the best way and time to share your story with them. This workshop will provide practical advice on pitching ideas, standing out from the flood of press releases vying for attention, and shaping your story so that it captures the imagination of the media and the audiences they serve.

Debbie Hynes is a storyteller who uses narrative to bring brands to life. In the past 2 decades she has worked with technology companies, start-ups and community organizations to help them tell their stories. Currently she works as the Regional Manager, Communications, Marketing and Brand for CBC Quebec.

By editing? This workshop is for you!
